Nadhm

Bricks and ash
200 x 200 x 15 cm

Nadhm

Nadhm is an ephemeral artwork made with bricks and cinders, installed on the patio of a house in Morocco’s Rif Mountains. The one hundred red bricks are arranged in groups of four in a rotational movement. At the center of each square of bricks is a delicately placed small pyramid made of cinders that contrast with the color of the floor and the red of the bricks. Together, they form a geometric composition with a complex motif, evoking fire’s power of transformation and alteration: malleable clay hardens and becomes brick, solid wood consumes itself and becomes ashes.

Location: House in Beni Boufrah, Rif, Morocco
